Let go

Over years, I learnt to let go.
Slowly, hesitantly,
Then surely,
Now almost comfortably.

Let go of countless things:
Pointless calculations
Futile questions
Bottled memories.

Then, slivers of time I have let go.
A childhood, one youth
I have long stopped holding on;
And gladly so.

Expectations, of course
More than anything else.
Grievances. Grudges.
Scores.
Sentimentality.
Love, maybe.
Dreams - a few of them.
And so many could-have-beens.

Over years, I learnt to get real
And let go here and there,
Bits of me,
To stay light,
And travel free.

Except for my restless words.

Winged footprints of moments, mind,
And an unwritten book, that could-have-been
Remain with me.
